Seth and Hele (for ML18)

Seth wandered around, looking for some food. How long had it been since he last ate? And where was Hele with their meat? He sent Hele out to grab some food for them, since he was the better hunter out of the two. Even though he was terrible at staying in the trees he liked to run through. That was the only part that wasn't as sneaky as the rest of him was. "Hele! Where are you?" he called out, the forest echoing slightly. "Hurry up, Hele! You're taking forever!"

Seth's voice echoed through the half-lit forest. He continued pacing back and forth then rose his head when he heard a dull thump!. Through the trees approached Hele, rubbing his head and holding out a small rabbit with an arrow through it. "Here's your food," he grumbled, tossing the rabbit to Seth's feet.

"Finally, and it took you, how long?" Seth asked impaitently, rolling his eyes at the younger kid. "Geeze, I'm awful at hunting, and you're pretty bad at it, too, but you're better than me, I think that's hard to believe, don't you?" Seth cut the rabbit open with the tip of his sword, taking the organs and some of the bones that were in the way, out. He put a stick through it and hung it over the fire to heat up. Then a thought struck Seth. "Hey, is that gonna fill us both?"

Hele shrugged as he sat across from Seth. "How should I know? If you don't think it will, go hunt yourself. At least you won't scare the animals." Hele poked at the fire with a small stick, rubbing a spot on his arm at the same time. "Yeah," he said, starring at Seth now. "This ain't gonna work. Go out and find something else, scavenger."

"Scavenger? When the heck did I become the scavenger?" he demanded, growling at Hele. "I may not scare the animals like you do, but at least you can catch them." Unfortunatly, since Seth couldn't work a bow and arrow set to save his life, so if he saw a bird or a bunny, or even a squirrel, then he'd either chase it until he got tired, or it ran up a tree, or even the very, very rare time he caught it. "I can't fix it, 'cause I'm a worse hunter than you are!"

"Maybe you should work on stamina, not strength," Hele responded, pointing at Seth. "If you can't catch an animal, chuck your sword at it or something. If it misses, start running." He crossed his hands around the back of his neck and closed his eyes.

"Start running?" Seth asked, raising an eyebrow. "That's an even worse idea than what I can come up with!" He threw his hands up in the air, "I can't catch anything, because we both know I'm terrible at it! Why don't you go keep yourself busy and get another thing yourself. You're so cocky about it, you do it!" Seth ran a hand through his hair, irritated because both of them knew Seth couldn't hunt, yet here was Hele telling him to go and hunt for them.

"Fine." Hele stood up, strapping his bow to his back. "But your coming with me." He grabbed Seth's hand and began to drag towards the woods. "I'll teach you how to use bow," he said in a cheerful voice, a decisive smile on his face.

"Didn't we already discuss this?" Seth asked, smiling innocently. "I can't shoot to save my life, even if I were to be dying on the ground with only a bow in my reach, I couldn't save my own life with that. And, someone's gotta watch over the food, you know? Otherwise, some hungry animal is gonna come and take it while we're out. Or worse, the forest'll burn down because someone made the other someone follow him to hunt for another piece of food that could also potentially burn down the forest."

"So? There're plenty more forests in Ixelliar. And if a bow were in front of you, you would try to shoot." Hele stopped in a clearing and pushed his bow in front of Seth's face. "You gotta hold it in one hand and the arrow in another. If this doesn't work, throw the arrow at animals."

"Throw the arrow at animals? That sounds exactly like throwing twigs and rocks at them, too, you know. And we can't burn down this forest! It's kind of like, important, you know? Look at all the animals in here," Seth said laughing, thinking rather about how many pieces of food were sitting in the forest, waiting for them to eat them. "I would try and shoot if it were in front of me, but it wouldn't save my life 'cause I have such bad shot."

"This is why I said work on stamina," Hele muttered, cocking his head to the side, trying to see how Seth managed to see every creature looking like a piece of food. "Would work better if we had an elf, but they're "Nature lovers", they wouldn't kill an animal." Hele shook his head in dismay.

"Nature lovers? Seriously? Like how!" Seth asked, his curisosity piqued. "That sounds funny!" he said, snickering. "But, how does stamina deal with shooting? I thought stamina was the stuff you run on, like energy, irght?"
